September 2005 Mastermind Meeting

Disaster Planning and Recovery

We scheduled a meeting for September 20 to discuss disaster planning and recovery, and what are the odds .... we had to postpone due to Hurricane Rita.

September 27, we held the meeting and it was very informative. First of all, let me advise you that of the approximately 40 stores we handle the accounting for, several were closed due to no power, some had physical damage, many had spoilage, and quite a few had no donuts to sell.

Several owners explained how perishbles were quickly transported to other facilities that were with power, and stories were offied how store employees were creative in providing products in place of dunuts, such as muffins.

Ed Brown of The Fairway Insurance Group (see ad on Home Page)  explained the coverages offered that would help with all the situations mentioned. We all learned more about off- premises coverage, spoilage and business continuation features. The most enlightening aspect is that from the Pinto to the Luxus may only be around $300 annualy.

We thank Ed for his time and great presentation.

July 2005 Mastermind Meeting

Asset Protection
Supplemental Retirement Income

The July 13 meeting talked about Retirement plans and employee benefits.

GOAL: to find a strategy that would provide the following benefits:

- Asset Protection
- Tax Deferred Growth
- Death Benefit for Heirs in case of early death
- Tax Free Retirement Income

Solution - Supplemental Life Insurance for Retirement Planning

Have you ever considered life insurance a potential source of additional funding for your retirement? That's right - life insurance. Life insurance usually is not the first vehicle that comes to mind when you explore the different avenues available for retirement funding. But, a life insurance policy is the only vehicle that provides:

· Tax-deferred cash value accumulation,
· Tax-free withdrawals contingent upon certain stipulations,
· Tax-free death benefit to your beneficiaries
· And asset protection in the state of
Florida.

Florida Statute Section 222.14 provides that the cash surrender value of life insurance policies insuring the life of a
Florida resident and the proceeds of (is: the payment from) annuity contracts issued to Florida
residents are exempt from the claims of creditors.

Provide benefits for my employees, and not cost me money?

Attendees at the July 13, 2005 Mastermind meeting were introduced to a great concept. How would you like to provide benefits for your employees, with not only with no cost to you, the owner, but actually a savings in taxes to both you and the employee? A totally win-win situation!

Representatives from AFLAC (the duck people) made a great presentation to the group and explained the process of providing health insurance, term and disability insurance, hospitalization and cancer coverage. They do all the administration, and you become the hero to your employees at absolutely no cost to you.

Several franchise owners have begun the process, and are ecstatic with the results. Scott Ball, a franchisee in Miami-Dade reported back to us that "the managers were elated. They could not believe that we were concerned enough about them to provide these kinds of programs. We looked like a Fortune 500 company."

According to Dan Lipinski, Dunkin' Donut FSM, one of the greatest challenges in the next few years will be hiring and retaining qualified workers, including managers. This is a great way to attract and retain good employees.

Another benefit to your company is that healthy employees are more productive employees. The program offers the employees the opportunity to participate in health care coverage which deals with preventative medicine and wellness.

How do you get started? Just let us know, and we will schedule an introductory meeting with you. The next step is a meeting with your employees where the program is explained. They do all the work.
